Convince the Employer that you’re the one for the job:
- Dress appropriately to present yourself for the interview.
- Most of us have heard the expression “A picture is worth a thousand words” Your appearance is a statement of who you are.
- Your clothing and grooming should create the image that will help to get the job offer.

SET ASIDE ENOUGH TIME FOR THE INTERVIEW
Be Prepared:
- Begin gathering all the documents and information you may need for the interview.
- Bring extra copies of your resume, list of references and letters of recommendation.
- You may also want to bring school transcripts, licenses and certifications. Work samples are also powerful tools (e.g.: designs, drawings and writings).
- Bring a pen and pad of paper for taking notes. Think about:
- Some standard interview questions and how you might respond
- Past work experience
- Work schedule availability
- Any prior commitments
- Skills and level of expertise
- Travel/commuting considerations
- Two forms of ID
Additional Tips:
- Maintain good eye contact throughout the interview.
- Don’t be a clock-watcher.
- Be aware of nonverbal body language.
Don’t discuss illegal or discriminatory subjects such as race, religion, age, national origin, equal rights or gender. |
